Job summary

Beacon Specialized Living Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges live more independently. Training is provided, and no prior experience is required.

Responsibilities include supporting daily activities, meal prep, transportation, medication administration, and safety, with opportunities for growth through the LEAP program and advancement within a mission‑driven organization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals with mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
• Preferred: 1–2 years in healthcare or social services, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide Support & Care: Encourage and guide individuals to meet their goals per person-centered plans.
• Foster a Safe Environment: Create a trusted, respectful home space while upholding rights.
• Meal Prep & Housekeeping: Prepare meals per dietary needs and assist with laundry and cleaning.
• Transportation & Advocacy: Transport to appointments and advocate on residents’ behalf.
• Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed and ensure correct dosages.
• 24/7 Availability: Be awake and available in homes requiring around‑the‑clock care.
• Supervise Daily Activities: Support with personal care, life skills, and social activities.
