Beacon Specialized Living is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health challenges live their best lives. You will receive on‑the‑job training and grow with a compassionate team in a supportive setting.

The role includes assisting with daily activities, medication administration, transportation, and advocacy, with opportunities for advancement through the LEAP program and paid training.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• 18 years or older.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with individuals who have mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
• Preferred: 1–2 years of healthcare or social services experience, but not required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to physical aggression and infectious disease.

Responsibilities

• Provide Support & Care: Encourage and guide individuals to meet goals per person-centered plans.
• Foster a Safe Environment: Create a trust-filled space where rights are upheld.
• Meal Prep & Housekeeping: Prepare meals per dietary specs; assist with laundry and cleaning.
• Transportation & Advocacy: Transport to appointments; advocate and assist with documentation.
• Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed and ensure correct dosage.
• 24/7 Availability: Maintain wakefulness and accessibility for round-the-clock care.
• Supervise Daily Activities: Support personal care, life skills, and social activities.
