Job summary

YAI - Seeing beyond disability is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) for Westchester County locations. DSPs work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in homes, day habilitation centers, or community settings to support personal goals and daily living activities.

The role involves ensuring safety, administering basic care, and implementing person-centered plans while maintaining compassionate, respectful communication with individuals and families.

Qualifications

• Effective written and oral communication skills are required.
• Enthusiasm for working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).
• Ability to remain calm in high-energy, fast-paced environments.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in ADLs including personal hygiene.
• Provide emotional support and build positive relationships.
• Monitor health, safety, and crisis situations.
• Document services and update records in the electronic health record (DA/eMAR).
• Transport and accompany individuals to activities and appointments.
• Follow Behavior Support Plans and IPoPS when applicable.
