Job summary

WellLife Network in New York, NY is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide hands-on care and advocacy for adults with developmental disabilities. You will assist with daily living activities, support community integration, and help individuals achieve independence and well-being.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency required.
• Fluent in English for client communication.
• Valid New York State Driver’s License with at least 2 years of driving experience (required for driving positions).
• Comfort operating a large vehicle (for driving positions).
• Experience with adults who have intellectual/developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Help with meal preparation, household chores, and creating a safe, comfortable home environment.
• Administer medications as directed and support medical appointments.
• Assist with walking, transfers, and mobility aids to ensure safe navigation.
• Implement strategies to support behaviors in a respectful manner.
• Plan and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities.
• Assist with communication tools to help individuals express themselves and advocate for needs.
