Job summary

Help at Home is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. You will help them live safely, independently, and with dignity.

We offer paid training, flexible scheduling, health benefits, PTO, and a $1,000 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires. Starting pay ranges from $18 to $20 per hour, depending on experience and location.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and meet at least one of the requirements listed above.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Reliable transportation with proof of insurance, vehicle registration, and inspection.
• Ability to provide safe and respectful support in individuals’ homes and communities.
• Compassion, reliability, and a commitment to helping others.

Responsibilities

• Reading, understanding, and following each individual’s Individual Support Plan.
• Reporting updates, progress, and concerns to the IDD Program Specialist.
• Assisting with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, grooming, hygiene, and transportation.
• Encouraging participation in shopping, social events, appointments, and other community activities.
• Supporting individuals as they work toward personal goals and greater independence.
• Promoting personal choice, self-advocacy, dignity, and respect.
• Accurately documenting services, activities, and progress.
• Communicating with team members to provide consistent, high-quality support.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Completion of a state-approved training program

Demonstrated competency and a passing score on the required written competency test
