Job summary

WellLife Network in College Point, NY is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide hands-on care and advocacy to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities.

You will assist with daily living activities, support health and wellness, help with mobility and transportation, encourage community participation, and document progress in electronic records while collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure holistic, respectful care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency required.
• Valid New York State Driver’s License with 2 years of driving experience required for driving positions.
• Comfort operating a large vehicle.
• Experience with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on personal care and daily living support.
• Administer medications as directed and assist with medical appointments.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and navigating environments safely.
• Support behaviors in a respectful manner and provide encouragement to promote independence.
• Plan and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities to foster community involvement.
• Assist with communication tools or strategies to help individuals express themselves and advocate for their needs.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and maintain accurate, timely records in electronic systems.
