Job summary

RHA Health Services is seeking a Direct Support Mentor (Regular) to provide care and coaching in residential and day settings for people with IDD and mental health challenges. You will mentor Direct Support Employees, ensure shift coverage, and model supportive, client-centered care.

The role includes ensuring personal outcomes, promoting dignity and independence, and maintaining a safe, respectful environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a High school diploma or GED.
• Prefer experience working with IDD individuals.
• At least one year of experience working with the population served.
• Must have a valid driver's license (this is a condition of employment) including personal vehicle insurance coverage.
• Maintain CPR and First Aid certification, Med Tech and NCI certifications and other core competency training.
• Depending on service being provided must be clinically supervised by a qualified professional as specified by licensure or certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist people supported to identify personal outcomes that best suit their interests, culture, and future desires.
• Identify supports needed for personal outcomes with the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Promote goals, dignity, respect, and quality of life for people supported.
• Provide opportunities for choice and independence.
• Report all incidents of abuse, neglect, or exploitation immediately.
• Help maintain cleanliness of group homes and supervise environmental upkeep.
• Assist people supported with daily living activities (eating, dressing, grooming, bathing, etc.).
• Support development of healthy personal and social habits.
• Assist with food preparation and cleaning of residences and program areas.
• Help people supported identify valued social roles in community settings.
