Action Based Enterprises in Rhode Island seeks dedicated direct support professionals to assist adults with developmental disabilities in day program sites, participants' homes, and community settings. Both full-time and part-time schedules are available.

You will provide personal care as needed, promote independence in daily activities, document ISP goals, attend trainings, ensure safety, and maintain confidentiality while coordinating with families and case managers.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Social Security Card.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Proof of vehicle registration, insurance, and inspection.

• Treat participants with dignity and respect.
• Serve as a good role model to participants.
• Represent the agency with professionalism and good conduct.
• Support participants in their right to obtain integrated community employment.
• Provide personal care for participants as needed.
• Promote independence among participants with regards to ADLs.
• Implement participant ISP goals, and document progress toward these goals.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants and their families.
• Report any suspected act of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment to Supervisor or Director.
• Report all serious incidents and/or safety concerns to the Case Manager or Director.
• Provide adequate supervision for participants, consistent with their ISP safety goals.
• Attend all meetings and trainings required by ABE and BHDDH (including SE training).
• Protect the safety of participants using only approved interventions and emergency procedures.
• Possess basic computer skills, and complete required trainings for Therap (secure data entry).
• Enter T-Logs (service summaries) in a timely and accurate manner.
• Provide safe transportation for participants in personal vehicle or agency vehicle (personal vehicles are a requirement of the job unless public transit can be used to meet participants' service needs).
• Maintain participant confidentiality as required by BHDDH.
• Comply with external investigations (i.e. BHDDH).
• Must be willing to change assignment (i.e. shift, location, participant).
• Other duties as assigned (i hygiene/cleaning tasks).
