Job summary

West Bay RI is seeking a Direct Support Specialist (DSP) to support individuals with IDD in homes and communities. You’ll assist with daily living, health maintenance, and community participation while promoting independence and meaningful relationships.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and 2–3 years of relevant experience. You’ll work full-time on 1st or 2nd shift across Cranston, Johnston, and Warwick with comprehensive Platinum Plan benefits and a

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• 2–3 years of Direct Support Professional or similar human services experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support with activities of daily living including personal care and health maintenance.
• Support individuals in decision making and achieving personal goals.
• Promote independence, self-advocacy and community participation.
• Follow individualized care plans and agency procedures, including medication administration as required.
• Monitor, document, and report progress and needs.
• Maintain a safe, respectful environment.
• Collaborate with individuals, families, coworkers, and community partners.
• Maintain required certifications and training (Safety-Care, CPR/AED/First Aid, HIPAA).
