Job summary

Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. seeks a Director of Operations to lead and optimize global GSE manufacturing operations in a fast-paced environment.

You will drive strategic initiatives, improve safety, quality, and delivery performance, and manage CapEx planning and cross-functional partnerships. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 10+ years in manufacturing or operations management, with ERP/SAP and Lean manufacturing expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain, operations management, or related field.
• 10+ years of manufacturing or operations management experience.
• ERP systems experience with SAP and inventory management.
• Lean manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Operations strategy and align priorities with business objectives.
• Direct end-to-end GSE manufacturing operations with accountability for safety, quality, production, labor productivity, inventory, and cost.
• Develop and implement strategic operational initiatives to improve efficiency and capacity, drive Lean/Six Sigma improvements, and support profitable growth.
• Execute Capital Expenditure and Long-Range Planning for manufacturing operations and new product introductions.
• Support modernization through advanced technologies, process improvements, and best practices.
• Champion safety, compliance, and risk mitigation across operations and manufacturing.
• Manage budgeting, cost control, resource planning, and continuous improvement to deliver cost savings.
• Lead vendor and contract management to ensure performance and value in key service agreements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic business initiatives and organizational growth.
• Foster talent development through performance management, engagement, training, and onboarding.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Operations strategy, aligning priorities with business objectives and ensuring reliable, high-quality operational performance across the organization.
• Direct end-to-end GSE manufacturing operations with full accountability for safety, quality, production execution, labor productivity, inventory performance, and cost management
• Develop and implement strategic operational initiatives that enhance manufacturing efficiency, expand production capacity, drive Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvements, improve productivity and quality, and support profitable growth while ensuring achievement of customer delivery, cost and business performance objectives.
• Develop and execute Capital Expenditure and Long-Range Planning initiatives supporting manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, insourcing strategies, and new product introductions.
• Support manufacturing modernization initiatives through the implementation of advanced technologies, process improvements, and operational best practices.
• Champion safety, compliance, and risk mitigation efforts across operations and manufacturing functions.
• Manage financial performance through budgeting, cost control, resource planning, and continuous improvement initiatives that deliver year-over-year cost savings.
• Lead vendor and contract management activities to ensure performance, accountability, and optimization of key operational service agreements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support strategic business initiatives, operational efficiency, and organizational growth.
• Foster talent development by supporting career path planning, management of performance objectives, engagement, training, and onboarding of new hires.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
Years of Experience: 10 or more years in manufacturing or operations management required.

Software Knowledge: Microsoft Office Applications, (ERP) Enterprise Resource Planning experience required; SAP, Inventory Management System experience required.
Additional Requirements: Experience in Lean Manufacturing required.
