Job summary

Rochester Institute of Technology Dining is seeking staff for campus concessions and dining services. The role supports food preparation, quality standards, and customer service in a dynamic university environment.

Location is on campus with fluctuating schedules based on events and academic calendars. Compensation ranges per hour, with eligibility for benefits including health coverage and paid time off.

Responsibilities

  • Washes and prepares foods for cooking or serving.
  • Follows quality control, portioning, and service standards.
  • Provides friendly, courteous service to customers.
  • Cleans dishware and manages ware washing.
  • Ensures proper storage and sorting of dishware and equipment.
  • Receives and stores supplies.
  • Maintains sanitation and safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Current Anticipated Hours/Work Location:
  • Location: Campus Concessions
  • Work Schedule: Fluctuates based on event need.
  • Work schedule may need to fluctuate based on University-wide events, and academic breaks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Washes and prepares various foods for cooking or serving
  • Follows all established quality control, portioning, and customer service standards
  • Provides excellent service in a friendly, sincere, and courteous manner
  • Cleans dishware, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans using dishwashers or by hand
  • Ensures proper sorting and storage of dishware, flatware, trays, utensils, or cooking equipment
  • Receives and stores supplies
  • Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of food service production and service techniques and standards
  • Knowledge of food sanitation and safety standards and protocols
  • Skill in time management, organization, and multi-tasking in high volume environments
  • Skill in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
  • Ability to obtain food safety/sanitation certifications required of the position
Minimum Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3 years of related experience
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
Job Level Overview

Operations, Administrative, Service, or Technical Support Level 3 - Senior level role with considerable knowledge and skills. Performs complex tasks and project work. Work is typically not routine and requires troubleshooting and analysis. Mentors or guides less experienced staff.
