Job summary

Rochester Institute of Technology's on‑campus dining team is hiring a Food Service Worker at Crossroads. You will wash and prep foods, follow quality and safety standards, and provide friendly, efficient service to students, faculty and staff.

This on‑site, non‑exempt role offers predictable hours, benefits, tuition assistance, and opportunities for growth within a supportive, team‑oriented environment. A high school diploma or GED and 3 years of related experience are required.

Responsibilities

  • Washes and prepares various foods for cooking or serving
  • Follows all established quality control, portioning, and customer service standards
  • Provides excellent service in a friendly, sincere, and courteous manner
  • Cleans dishware, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans using dishwashers or by hand
  • Ensures proper sorting and storage of dishware, flatware, trays, utensils, or cooking equipment
  • Receives and stores supplies
  • Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Current Anticipated Hours/Work Location:
  • Location: Crossroads
  • Work Schedule: Sun 10am-6:30p, Mon/Tue 7:30am-4pm, Wed/Thurs 10am-6:30pm, Fri/Sat OFF
  • Work schedule may need to fluctuate based on University-wide events, and academic breaks.

  • Knowledge of food service production and service techniques and standards
  • Knowledge of food sanitation and safety standards and protocols
  • Skill in time management, organization, and multi-tasking in high volume environments
  • Skill in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
  • Ability to obtain food safety/sanitation certifications required of the position
Minimum Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3 years of related experience
