Job summary

Southern Foodservice Management Inc in New Jersey is seeking an Assistant Foodservice Manager to oversee daily operations of the dining facility, supervise union hourly staff, and ensure quality service in line with company and government client requirements.

You will coordinate kitchen and dining room setup, monitor equipment temperatures, train staff, and work with the Project Manager and Operations Manager to meet client obligations and maintain high standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in institutional or business management or equivalent.
• 4-5 years of managerial experience in high-volume foodservice.
• Knowledge of food services, sanitation and safety standards.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate employees and work well in team environments.
• Nutrition knowledge and Serve-Safe certification preferred.
• Experience with large-scale food preparation and staff training.
• Excellent organizational and communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure facilities and work areas are clean and safe.
• Oversee kitchen and dining room setup and closing procedures.
• Monitor daily temperature documentation of equipment.
• Supervise cashiers and assist with daily audits and deposits.
• Ensure proper staffing and staff clock-in/out.
• Monitor uniforms and compliance with meal policies.
• Prepare kitchen equipment for daily use and set menu changes.
• Directly supervise front-of-house staff and assist during service.
• Pull and submit reports from POS systems to administrators.
• Provide training and coaching to staff and maintain customer relations.
