Job Summary

A growing commercial printing operation in San Diego is seeking an experienced Digital Print Press Operator for a direct hire opportunity. This full-time role is ideal for a print professional who is confident operating high-volume digital production presses and enjoys producing accurate, high-quality commercial print, direct mail, and personalized print projects. Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate high-volume digital production presses for commercial print and direct mail projects.
• Review job tickets, PDFs, artwork, paper stocks, quantities, and production specifications before and during production.
• Monitor color, registration, image quality, and overall print quality to ensure finished work meets customer and production standards.
• Run variable data printing projects and support personalized print workflows using FusionPro or similar VDP software.
• Troubleshoot basic press, file, and workflow issues to keep jobs moving accurately and efficiently.
• Coordinate with prepress, finishing, mailing, and production teams while keeping equipment and work areas clean and organized.

Compensation and Benefits

• Compensation: $27 per hour.
• Salary range: $50,000 to $60,000 per year.
• Job type: Direct hire.
• Schedule: Full-time.
• Location: San Diego, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Operate digital production presses for high-volume commercial print and direct mail jobs.
• Set up job files, production specifications, paper stocks, sizes, and quantities for accurate output.
• Monitor print quality, color consistency, registration, and image accuracy throughout production.
• Support variable data printing and personalized print production workflows.
• 6 to 10 years of relevant print production or digital press operating experience preferred.
• Hands-on experience operating digital presses such as Xerox, Canon, Ricoh, Konica Minolta, HP, or similar production equipment.
• Background in commercial printing, direct mail, or high-volume digital production environments.
• Working knowledge of PDFs, job tickets, artwork review, and production specifications.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify quality issues and make basic adjustments.
• Mechanically inclined, dependable, organized, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven production setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with prepress, finishing, mailing, and production team members.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with variable data printing, VDP workflows, and personalized print projects.
• FusionPro experience is highly preferred.
• Experience supporting direct mail production workflows.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting basic digital press, file, and print production issues.
