Position Summary
The Dietary Manager is a key leadership position directly responsible for the successful operation of Dining Services. The Dietary Manager is responsible for actively preparing meals and managing the operations of the Dining Services Department, including staffing, food ordering and accountability, preparation, menu planning, food delivery, and sanitation in accordance with appropriate health department regulations. The Director ensures client and customer service satisfaction with efficient cost-effective management that meets and exceeds stated expectations. Assist in maintaining a positive physical and social environment for residents.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising, assigning duties and tasks while directing the work of all food service department employees with full accountability of dining services department.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and work areas are clean, safe, and orderly. Strictly adhere to procedures regarding infection control, food-borne illness prevention, harmful chemical handling, fire safety, and sanitation, promptly addressing any noncompliance. Maintain food costs within budgetary constraints and strict inventory control.
  • Demonstrate independent judgment and discretion.
  • Interview, make hiring recommendations and orient new staff.
  • Schedule and reschedule staff using independent judgment and discretion.
  • Responsible for tracking attendance and carrying out disciplinary actions where appropriate.
  • Communicate and enforce policies and procedures including the employer’s policies regarding employee conduct, safety, sanitation, and other human resource policies.
  • Evaluate performance and recommend changes based on evaluations.
  • Complete dietary QA audits quarterly.
  • Plan community and individual resident menus as ordered by the primary care provider in coordination with Affinity staff and medical staff if necessary.
  • Ensure meals are prepared according to menu and recipes, presented attractively, and that appropriate snacks are available for residents with special dietary needs.
  • Supervise and ensure that food is stored safely and prepared in accordance with safe and sanitary procedures.
  • Ensure all employees provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Perform job duties for residents and with team members in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Take initiative to ensure resident safety and satisfaction is a priority.
  • Meet and greet visitors in a friendly, helpful manner.
  • Answer phones appropriately, according to company and community standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations regarding residents’ rights.
  • Ensure that employees attend all required in-service trainings.
  • Provide in-service trainings as needed.
  • Attend training sessions as directed by supervisor.
