Job summary

Caring Places Management in Madras, Oregon is seeking a dedicated Dietary Manager to lead our kitchen and oversee meal preparation for our senior residents. You will manage staff, coordinate with vendors, and ensure meals meet nutritional needs while delivering homelike hospitality.

This full-time role reports to the Administrator and offers a supportive team, competitive benefits, and opportunities to mentor culinary staff in a caring, community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a current Food Handler’s Permit.
• Criminal background check required.
• Experience cooking in an institutional setting.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to manage kitchen expenses within budget.
• Organized with a commitment to customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the kitchen staff.
• Oversee pre-meal and meal preparation, including ordering supplies and meeting with vendors.
• Manage all kitchen expenses within budget.
• Assist with marketing and social events, including decorating the dining room area.

This position reports directly to the Administrator and fills a crucial role within the community by overseeing and organizing the preparation and service of meals while making lasting connections with our residents, their families, and our exceptional care team.

Job Duties:

• Provide leadership to the kitchen staff
• Oversee pre-meal and meal preparation, including ordering necessary supplies and meeting with vendors
• Manage all kitchen expenses (food, equipment, staff) within budget
• Assist with marketing and social events, including decorating the dining room area
• Responsible for meeting company standards for kitchen/dining room cleanliness and organization.

Requirements:

• Must have a current Food Handler’s Permit
• Must pass a criminal background check
• Prior experience with cooking in an institutional setting required;
• Strong leadership and communication skills;
• Ability to use a computer when necessary to fulfil the duties of the role;
• Ability to understand and meet specialized dietary needs;
• Prior experience managing expenses within budgetary guidelines;
• Organized with a commitment to exceptional customer service
