Position summary

The Dietary Manager is a key leadership position responsible for the successful operation of Dining Services. This role involves preparing meals and managing the department's operations, including staffing, food ordering, menu planning, food delivery, and sanitation, all in accordance with health regulations. The Director ensures client and customer satisfaction through efficient, cost-effective management that exceeds expectations and helps maintain a positive environment for residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise and assign duties to all food service staff, maintaining full accountability for the dining services department.
  2. Ensure equipment maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation, adhering to infection control and health regulations.
  3. Maintain food costs within budget and control inventory strictly.
  4. Exercise independent judgment and discretion in staffing, scheduling, and disciplinary actions.
  5. Conduct interviews, recommend hiring, and orient new staff members.
  6. Schedule staff effectively, considering requests and operational needs, and manage attendance and disciplinary actions.
  7. Enforce policies and procedures related to employee conduct, safety, sanitation, and other HR policies, providing disciplinary recommendations when necessary.
  8. Evaluate staff performance and suggest employment adjustments as appropriate.
  9. Perform quarterly dietary QA audits.
  10. Plan community and individual resident menus in coordination with medical staff, including special events.
  11. Ensure meals are prepared according to recipes, presented attractively, and meet nutritional standards, including special dietary needs.
  12. Supervise proper food storage, sanitation, and equipment maintenance.
  13. Provide excellent customer service to residents, visitors, and staff, ensuring resident safety and satisfaction.
  14. Greet visitors professionally and answer phones according to community standards.
  15. Ensure compliance with all regulations regarding residents' rights.
  16. Ensure staff attend required trainings and provide in-service training as needed.
  17. Participate in training sessions as directed by supervisors.
