Job summary

Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, CO is seeking a part-time PRN Dietary Assistant to support meal service and food preparation for residents. The role offers shifts during mornings and evenings, with a pay range of $18.62–$21.03 per hour based on experience.

The position emphasizes quality service, adherence to safety standards, and teamwork within a compassionate healthcare environment. Prior institutional dietary experience is preferred, with opportunities to grow within VOANS facilities.

Qualifications

• Friendly and enjoy working with the elderly.
• Previous institutional dietary service experience is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand procedures used for work assignments, instructions, recipe directions and diet order cards.
• Numerical ability for recipe preparation and proper measuring of cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Ability to work in an area that is often very hot/cold.

Responsibilities

• Assists in defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Management Team and/or Cook.
• Follows reporting procedures for the following: Observed resident concerns; Supply and equipment needs; Damaged, unsafe, malfunctioning equipment; Conditions related to breeding insects, rodents, or other vermin.

Pay Range: $18.62 - $21.03 per hour, based on previous working experience.

Schedule: PRN role to help coverage days and evenings shifts. Schedules will vary/as-needed/on-call. Typical shifts are 6am-2:30pm or 11:30am-8pm

What You’ll Be Responsible For

The Dietary Assistant role is to provide quality food service in accordance with all State and Federal regulations and to meet the nutritional and individual needs of the residents.

• Assists in defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Management Team and/or Cook.
• Follows reporting procedures for the following:
  • Observed resident concerns.
  • Supply and equipment needs.

  • Conditions related to breeding insects, rodents, or other vermin.
