Job summary

Volunteers of America National Services operates Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, CO, seeking a Part-Time Prep Cook to support on-site meal preparation and serving. This paid role provides 18 hours per week, with shifts 7:30am–2pm on Thu, Fri and Sat, and offers a competitive hourly pay of $18.00–$20.00.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED required or preferred.
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Complete food preparation and serving of meals per procedures.
• Assist with inventory and stock as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Schedules:7:30am - 2pm Thursday, Friday & Saturday; 18 hours weekly

What You Bring (Requirements)

High School diploma/GED required preferred.

Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older.

Minimum of one year food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting preferred. General knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving required.

• Friendly and enjoy working with the elderly.
• Able to understand and follow procedures, recipe directions, diet orders and work assignments.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

The Prep Cook will provide quality food service in accordance with all State and Federal regulations and to meet the nutritional and individual needs of the residents.

• Completes defined food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning duties according to proper procedures, using various dietary equipment and supplies, as assigned by the Cook, Assistant Food and Nutrition Services Manager, Director of Food and Nutrition Services and Management Team.
• Prepares nutritional snacks for residents as assigned.
• Tastes and smells prepared food to determine quality and palatability.
• Assists with department inventory program.
• Performs other duties or special assignments as directed by the Cook, Assistant Food and Nutrition Services Manager or Director of Food and Nutrition Services.
