Job summary

Nexus of Palos Hills is seeking a Dietary Aide to support the Dietary Department and assist the cook with meal preparation and service. You will help meet meal times, follow policies and ensure sanitation standards in a healthcare setting.

The role requires a High School diploma (preferred) and ability to read recipes and diet orders, with flexibility to work hours during emergencies. Lifting up to 50 lbs and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School graduate; preferred institutional dietary service experience.
• Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions, diet orders, tray cards and work assignments.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
• Numerical accuracy for recipe prep and measuring cleaning agents; good motor coordination and manual dexterity.
• Able and willing to work flexible hours, including emergencies; patient with staff, residents, and families.

Responsibilities

• Perform defined work routines using dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned.
• Provide assistance to the cook in meal preparation and service.
• Meet scheduled meal and snack times.
• Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Department policies.
• Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
• Assist in arranging tray cards, loading food carts and serving meals.
• Set up dining room and serve residents.
• Wash and store dishes.
• Follow reporting procedures for supplies and equipment.
• Maintain sanitation and safe work environment.
