Smithfield Foods, Inc. seeks a skilled Vehicle Technician responsible for daily maintenance and repairs to ensure a safe fleet. Responsibilities include inspecting, repairing, and testing components across mechanical subsystems, and ensuring compliance with environmental and company safety policies.

The role requires teamwork, reliability, and readiness for on‑call emergencies. Experience with diesel engines, electrical systems, and diagnostic software is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational training preferred.
• Experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment.
• 4 years’ direct experience as a diesel mechanic or equivalent.

Responsabilités

• Performs maintenance and repairs on company vehicles and trailers to keep fleet safe.
• Reviews DVIR reports and operator descriptions to diagnose problems.
• Performs preventative maintenance and DOT inspections.
• Assesses repairs and communicates with lead technician when additional work is needed.
• Trains other mechanics as required.
