Job summary

Cox Fleet is hiring a Shop Diesel Technician II in Tampa, FL to support growth and provide on-site mobile maintenance as part of a nationwide service network.

Responsibilities include performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and follow-up repairs, and diagnostics; work under supervision of a Sr Shop Diesel Technician; uphold safety and high performance metrics in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 3 years related experience (or 5 years in related field).
• Must pass DOT pre-employment background check and DOT physical.
• DOT medical card with >4 months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical.
• Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
• Valid state driver’s license; ability to obtain and maintain DQF.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe operating practices and procedures.
• Determine parts and interact with Parts Dept.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and tools.
• Apply formal training/experience to perform job tasks.
• Collaborate with Service Writer to assess customer needs and repairs.
• Prioritize tasks and manage time allocations.
• Maintain compliance with safety, OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations.
• Perform PM, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light to heavy-duty vehicles.
• Travel to customer locations as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance and use diesel tools and equipment.
• Document work and upload RO details using Karmak or devices.
• Complete DOT forms and other documentation timely.
• Maintain productivity within standard repair times.
• Obtain approvals on estimates and RO notes.
