Job summary

U.S. Xpress is seeking a Technician, I Fleet at the Tunnel Hill USX Terminal. Perform basic and routine preventive maintenance on tractors and trailers, inspect brakes and tires, check fluids, change tires, and grease components.

The role requires staying productive and completing tasks close to SRT times. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a Diesel Tech diploma preferred, and at least 1 year of mechanical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of mechanical experience preferred.
• DOT and Brake certification required to perform PMs and brake work.
• Must provide own tools that are adequate to perform job functions.
• Experience in the transportation industry and computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic and routine preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers as outlined in USX PM guidelines.
• Perform basic or minor repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring etc.
• Check vehicle fluids (e.g. transmission, oil, windshield wiper, antifreeze, etc.).
• Change vehicle tires.
• Grease mechanical parts.
• Maintain a high productivity level and complete most jobs within or close to SRT times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
