Job summary

Penske is hiring an entry-level Diesel Technician/Mechanic III at our US-NC Greensboro location. You’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a diverse fleet, gaining exposure to multiple OEM systems and new tech.

Training and coaching from seasoned technicians will help you develop essential repair skills. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, and some automotive repair experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• The ability to solve problems and comfort using tools.
• Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
• The ability to work well as part of a team and outside.
• Basic computer skills.
• Understand and comply with Penske instructions, rules and safety policies.
• DOT/OSHA safety rules and maintenance policies compliance required.
• Regular, predictable attendance is essential.
• DOT drug screening and FMCSA requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers.
• Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Perform preventative maintenance such as tire rotation and lubrication on gas and diesel engines.
• Learn and apply new skills through Penske technician training and hands-on coaching.
• Take on additional projects as assigned by supervisor.
