First Student is hiring a Diesel Technician in Danbury, CT to keep school buses safe and reliable for the community. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel and related systems while supporting daily fleet operations.

Monday through Friday shifts and company-paid CDL training are part of the role. We offer a competitive hourly rate and opportunities for ASE certification, plus benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage, and a 401(k) with company match.

Qualifications

• Have at least one year of automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicle maintenance experience.
• Have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain a CDL with company-paid training.
• Possess a mechanic’s tool set and strong diagnostic skills.
• Comfortable using computers to complete work orders and maintenance information.
• Interested in ASE training and certification to expand skills.
• Commitment to safe, accurate and dependable work.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Diagnose and repair diesel and automotive systems.
• Maintain and repair brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, transmissions, and related components.
• Complete work orders accurately and document repairs.
• Ensure vehicles meet safety standards and assist with mobile emergency repairs as needed.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to keep the fleet available.
