Job summary

First Student in Danbury, CT is hiring immediately for a Diesel Technician at our shop serving Danbury Public Schools. You will maintain and repair school buses to ensure every vehicle is safe and ready for service.

You will use your mechanical and diagnostic skills to identify problems, complete repairs, and support daily operation of the Danbury fleet. This full-time, year-round role offers pay $27.00–$31.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications, along with medical/dental/vision

Qualifications

• Have at least one year of automotive, diesel, electric, or CNG vehicle maintenance experience.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Willing to obtain a CDL with company-paid training.
• Have a mechanic’s tool set.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using computers to complete work orders and access maintenance information.
• Interested in expanding ASE training and certification.
• Take pride in performing safe, accurate, and dependable work.

Responsibilities

• Performing preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Diagnosing and repairing diesel and automotive systems.
• Maintaining and repairing brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, transmissions, and related components.
• Completing work orders accurately and documenting repairs.
• Ensuring vehicles meet company and regulatory safety standards.
• Assisting with mobile emergency repairs when needed.
• Working closely with the maintenance and operations teams to keep the fleet available for service.
