First Student, Inc. in East Hartford, CT is seeking a Diesel Technician to maintain and repair school buses for CREC Schools. This full-time day shift offers $31.28 per hour with potential up to $2.00 more per hour for ASE School Bus Series certifications.

The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and community impact, with company-paid ASE training and benefits. English proficiency is required for the role and compliance with DOT safety standards is expected.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience.
• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL Class B, or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
• Possession of a mechanic's tool set to complete duties.
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification program.
• Strong computer skills and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on school buses.
• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for passengers.
• Repair brakes, drivetrains, engines, suspensions, and related systems.
• Complete preventive maintenance inspections and work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment.
