Job summary

First Student is hiring a Diesel Technician in East Hartford, CT to maintain and repair school buses in a CREC Schools shop. This role offers a Mon-Fri day shift and a starting pay of $31.28 per hour, with potential up to an additional $2.00/hour for ASE School Bus Series certifications.

Qualifications

• 1 year diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license required
• CDL Class B required or ability to obtain within 60 days
• Possession of a mechanic’s tool set
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification program
• Strong computer skills
• Subject to DOT drug testing and safety regulations

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for passengers
• Diagnose and perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
• Repair and inspect brakes and brake systems
• Perform engine tune-ups
• Repair suspensions, drivetrains, and related systems
• Complete preventive maintenance inspections
• Complete safety and annual inspections
• Complete work orders accurately and on time
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed
• Support a clean, safe, organized shop environment
