Job summary

Rush Enterprises Inc. in Texas is seeking a Diesel Shop Foreman Technician to lead a team of diesel mechanics, schedule repairs, and ensure high‑quality workmanship. This role offers growth opportunities, leadership responsibilities, and a path to influence every aspect of the shop floor.

You will mentor technicians, coordinate with the Service Manager, and road‑test vehicles to verify repairs. The position requires a GED or high school diploma and at least two years of supervision in a diesel

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years in shop supervision of diesel technicians.
• ASE Master or equivalent certifications preferred.
• Manufacturer certifications (CAT, Cummins, Eaton, Fuller) advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and motivate qualified diesel mechanics.
• Assist diesel mechanics in developing their skills with support of the Service Manager.
• Schedule repair work and assign technicians to mechanical segments that match their skill level to ensure quality.
• Ensure that all repairs are assigned to mechanics in an equal and fair manner.
• Provide technical support for mechanics when necessary.
• Check progress (WIP) of each repair order throughout the day.
• Maintain high-quality repairs and minimize comebacks. Conduct periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
• Road test vehicles to quality-check work performed.
• Monitor mechanics’ daily productivity reports and corresponding payroll records.
