Job summary

Rush Enterprises, Inc. seeks a Diesel Shop Foreman to lead the diesel shop teams, assign tasks, and ensure high-quality repairs. You will recruit and motivate mechanics, coordinate schedules with the Service Manager, and provide hands-on technical support as needed.

The role focuses on fair task allocation, daily progress checks, and road testing completed work to maintain quality. Strong leadership and insurability with the company carrier are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years’ related shop and technician supervision experience.
• Insurability with Company’s carrier.
• ASE Master Certification, Diamond Certification, Cat, Cummins, Eaton, Fuller or other certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and motivate qualified diesel mechanics.
• Assist diesel mechanics in developing their skills with support of the Service Manager.
• Schedule repair work and assign technicians to segments matching their skill level.
• Ensure repairs are assigned to mechanics fairly.
• Provide technical support for mechanics when necessary.
• Check progress of each repair order daily.
• Maintain high-quality repairs and minimize comebacks; spot-check completed work.
• Road test vehicles to quality-check work performed.
• Monitor mechanics’ daily productivity and payroll records.
