Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing organization. The Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic performs heavy-duty mechanical repair under general supervision and receives on‑the‑job training to achieve Service Journeyman status.

Responsibilities include engine, fuel, electrical, transmissions, cooling, chassis, brakes, engine tune-up, and general maintenance. Training sessions, safe work practices, and tool handling are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Three years hands-on experience or vocational training completed.
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
• Have the necessary tools to perform responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs and/or assists in general mechanical duties.
• Gains experience on engine overhaul, fuel, electrical, transmissions, cooling, chassis, brakes, tune-ups, and general maintenance.
• Works on major components with close supervision.
• Performs troubleshooting on minor problems.
• Attends training sessions and meetings.
• Maintains a neat, orderly workspace and proper handling of tools.
• Advises the Shop Foreman if more repair work is needed.
• Follows safety practices, uses safety equipment, and asks for help when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
