Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC, a leading North American Kenworth truck dealer, is hiring a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic in Jackson, TN. You will perform heavy-duty mechanical repairs, gain hands-on experience through a development program, and work under supervision toward Service Journeyman status.

Responsibilities include engine and system work, equipment maintenance, training attendance, safe practices, and accurate use of tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years hands-on experience or a graduate of vocational courses.
• CDL preferred.
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
• Must have the necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical duties.
• Gains experience by working on engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-up, and general maintenance.
• Works on major components with close supervision.
• Performs trouble shooting on minor problems.
• Attends training sessions and meetings.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
• Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
• Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeks assistance when necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
