Job summary

Premier Leasing & Rental in Canton, OH seeks a Service Manager to lead the Branch Service department and its Diesel Technicians, driving efficient, profitable operations while maintaining high customer satisfaction. The role requires an AA in a technical field or equivalent experience and 3–5 years in heavy-duty truck service with supervisory experience.

You will manage budgets, hire staff, ensure safety/compliance, and coordinate with vendors and customers to optimize service delivery.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree (AA) in a technical field or comparable work experience.
• Three to five years heavy-duty truck service or related experience with supervisory experience preferred.
• Management skills to include strategic plan development, decision making abilities and program implementation.
• Extensive product knowledge to customer and staff.
• Supervisory skills to include coaching, training and motivation of subordinates.
• Highly organized, detail oriented and results driven.
• Ability to prioritize and handle numerous tasks simultaneously.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Must maintain a valid CDL.
• CDL license is required.

Responsibilities

• Establishes strategic and operational goals and objectives for the Branch service department.
• Establishes Service Department profit targets and ensures operational goals are met.
• Fosters effective and timely communication between Service and all other Branch departments.
• Communicates with vendors on product and warranty issues.
• Overall responsibility for upkeep and maintenance of facility and grounds as budget guidelines dictate.
• Establishes financial and operating objectives for the Branch service department in support of annual business planning.
• Prepares operating and capital budgets for the Branch service department and reviews regularly.
• Provides management information to the Executive Committee on branch service operations.
• Evaluates Service Department’s performance against target goals and standards.
• Analyzes the diesel truck market and develops sales/marketing plans.
• Establishes relationships with key outside vendors (Kenworth, PACCAR, engine distributors, etc.).
• Maintains good customer relations by addressing concerns and mediating resolutions.
• Follows up on vendor credits and allowances in a timely manner.
• Interviews and hires diesel technicians and warranty staff; makes recommendations for hiring.
• Ensures shop personnel are trained; arranges training.
• Oversees purchasing of tooling and equipment.
• Ensures productivity and adherence to goals and policies.
• Addresses personnel issues and conducts performance appraisals.
• Holds monthly meetings and safety reviews; records notes for HR.
• Complies with regulations (HAZMAT, OSHA, etc.) and safety programs.
• Coordinates branch service advertising and specials.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of shop and service area.
• All other duties as assigned.
