Job summary

Atomic Transport is seeking an experienced Mechanic to join our team in Chattanooga, TN. The role focuses on diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers, with an emphasis on exhaust after-treatment systems and wiring diagnostics.

You will work with a skilled team, using Cummins Insite, Diagnostic-Link, PTT, and other diagnostic tools. We offer a pay range of $25–$33 per hour, a $1,000 sign-on bonus, weekly pay, and a schedule that includes Monday–Friday with Saturdays as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required or preferred.
• Strong technical skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willing to pass pre-employment screening (drug test and background).
• Own basic hand tools; specialty tools provided.

Responsibilities

• Extensive wiring diagnostics knowledge.
• Diagnose exhaust after-treatment systems.
• Use diagnostic software including Cummins Insite, Diagnostic-Link and PTT.
• Perform minor and major truck and trailer repairs.
• Respond to roadside service calls as needed.
• Plan repairs and prioritize issues.
• Maintain accurate repair records.

Responsibilities

• Extensive background knowledge in wiring diagnostics.
• Effectively diagnose exhaust after‑treatment systems.
• Ability to use diagnostic software to include Cummins Insite and quick servers, Diagnostic-Link, PTT, Allison and Bendix systems.
• Perform minor and major truck and trailer repairs.
• Perform roadside service calls.
• Prioritize and diagnose problems and plan repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of each repair performed.
• Follow shop safety procedures.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Willing to share your repair skills with other technicians.

Requirements

• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Strong technical skills, problem‑solving abilities, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Pass pre‑employment screening (drug test and background check).
• Have your own set of basic hand tools (specialty and larger tools will be provided).
• Class A CDL preferred, not required.
• Aluminum welding required.
