Job summary

GFL Environmental in Garrett, Indiana is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to safely operate, repair, rebuild and maintain heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment to keep the fleet operating reliably for daily refuse collection. Starting pay is $25-$35/hour with overtime after 40 hours, plus a $5K sign-on paid in two increments.

Shift is 1pm-11:30pm, Monday–Friday, with a $3 shift differential. Benefits include PTO, weekly pay, tool allowance, boot reimbursement, health benefits after 60 days and

Qualifications

• Experience servicing heavy-duty diesel trucks or equipment.
• Valid certifications and demonstrated skill level to warrant higher pay.
• Ability to work safely in a fleet maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems, and complete repairs on Diesel Refuse Trucks.
• Repair and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, PTO systems, and other truck components.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues to keep Refuse Trucks operating safely and reliably.
• Perform preventative maintenance and complete repairs to ensure fleet vehicles are ready for daily operation.
