Job summary

FedEx Freight in Florida is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel tractors, trailers, and forklifts. The role covers preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure safe operation.

Starting rate is $31.63/hour with benefits including tool reimbursement, ASE certification incentives, and shift differential pay. Candidates may need ASE and CDL qualifications; both independent work and teamwork are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year of vehicle maintenance experience or near certificate.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges, and tools for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred.
• Able to lift components weighing up to 110 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmission.
• Ability to enter/exit driver’s compartment safely.
• Paint/body work experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently or as a team member.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and adjust equipment.
• Works with other technicians on maintenance and repairs.
• Ensures proper documentation of maintenance; completes reports.
• Performs safety inspections and documents the work.
• Performs paint and body work as required.
• Complies with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Performs other duties as required.
