Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Dialysis Technician to provide direct patient care during dialysis treatment and to operate hemodialysis machines across Summit Renal and Boettler/Green Dialysis clinics in Akron. After training, you will work four 8-hour shifts, with potential 12-hour shifts based on census, and 3–4 days per week including Saturdays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be comfortable working around blood and needles.
• Must be comfortable mixing acid or bicarb.
• Flexible schedule and availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical and mental ability to work long hours, including some 12+ hour shifts, on your feet.
• Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed.
• Ability to lift 5 to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to perform repetitive standing, sitting, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, and use full range of body motions.
• Ability to interact clearly and efficiently in person and by phone.
• Ability to use computers and peripherals as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct one-on-one patient care during dialysis treatment.
• Care for up to 4–5 patients at a time.
• Prepare the water room and bicarb for patients.
• Test water for chlorine and check tool calibration.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment.
• Measure and record patient statistics and observations.
• Set up hemodialysis machines.
• Educate patients on kidney dialysis-related topics.
• Build long-term relationships with patients receiving treatment for end-stage renal disease.
• Work under the supervision of an RN.
• Collaborate with technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership.
• Work four 8-hour shifts after training, split between Summit Renal and Boettler/Green Dialysis, with possible 12-hour shifts based on patient census.
• Work 3–4 days per week, including at least two Saturdays per month.
• Participate in continuous improvement of patient and teammate processes.
