Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a dedicated Dialysis Technician to join our clinical team in Greenville, NC. You will operate hemodialysis machines, monitor patients, and document treatments to ensure safe, effective care across transitional settings.

The role requires high school diploma or GED, CPR, CMS-certified credentials, and ability to travel between facilities. You will help educate patients on dialysis options and maintain strict infection-control practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Set up and operate hemodialysis machines.
• Welcome patients and assess their wellbeing.
• Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted.
• Obtain and document pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and vascular access evaluations.
• Initiate and monitor dialysis treatments according to prescribed orders.
• Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming for ultrafiltration goals, treatment time, and UF modeling.
• Monitor patient responses, machine safety, alarms, and pressures.
• Report significant information and changes in patient condition to the nurse or supervisor.
• Obtain laboratory tests and coordinate specimen collection.
• Clean and disinfect dialysis machines and treatment area.
• Maintain accurate treatment sheets and records.
• Support infection-control education for patients and families.
• Educate patients about home dialysis and treatment options.
• Coordinate transitions to patients’ chosen dialysis modality.
• Assist with training direct patient-care staff under nurse supervision.

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
• Set up and operate hemodialysis machines
• Welcome patients and assess their wellbeing
• Evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as permitted
• Obtain and document pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and vascular access evaluations
• Initiate, monitor, intervene in, and discontinue dialysis treatments according to prescribed orders
• Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming for ultrafiltration goals, treatment time, and UF modeling
• Monitor patient responses, machine safety, alarms, vascular access pressures, and unusual findings
• Report significant information and changes in patient condition to the registered nurse or supervisor
• Obtain laboratory tests, prepare specimens, and coordinate specimen collection
• Clean and disinfect dialysis machines, chairs, equipment, and surrounding areas
• Maintain a safe, clean, and environmentally sound treatment area
• Enter treatment data and maintain accurate treatment sheets, charts, requisitions, and records
• Participate in CQI activities and infection-control audits and practices
• Support infection-control education for patients and families
• Follow newly admitted patients through their first four weeks of dialysis and coordinate transitional care
• Educate patients about home dialysis, treatment options, and peritoneal dialysis setup
• Coordinate transitions to patients’ chosen dialysis modality
• Set up and perform treatments on machines used in the Transitional Care Unit
• Assist with Transitional Care Unit supply ordering and inventory
• Assist with training direct patient-care staff under nurse supervision

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D. required
• Must meet CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline
• All appropriate state licensure, education, and training required
• Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards
• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred
• Successful completion of the organization dialysis training program
• Successful completion of CPR certification
• Ability to perform direct patient care involving heavy lifting and moving patients
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and bend over
• Ability to push and/or pull equipment with up to 15 pounds of force
• Ability to lift/lower solutions up to 30 lbs. frequently and up to 40 lbs. occasionally
• Must take the Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment
• Ability to travel between assigned facilities and various community locations
