Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking an entry-level Registered Nurse for the Outpatient CAP 1 program. The RN provides and coordinates clinically competent care including assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation for an assigned group of patients within the End Stage Kidney Disease care team.

The role involves education, collaboration with RNs, LVNs/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians, delegation where appropriate, and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Entry level RN with less than 2 years of nephrology nursing experience.
• Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience preferred.
• Must complete CAP requirements to advance.

Responsibilities

• Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.
• Performs ongoing collection and analysis of patient data during dialysis and documents in the medical record; adjusts treatment plan as indicated and notifies supervisor or physician as needed.
• Educates patients and families about learning needs and provides initial and ongoing education.
• Directs and provides safe delivery of hemodialysis therapy in collaboration with direct and ancillary staff.
• Administers medications as prescribed and documents justification and effectiveness.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Serves as a resource for the health care team and participates in staff training and orientation.
• Ensures proper specimen collection, processing and shipping and reschedules missed collections.

Education

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Current state licensure

CPR BLS Certification
