Job summary

Fresenius Kidney Care in the United States seeks an entry-level Registered Nurse for the CAP program. The RN CAP 1 will coordinate and provide clinically competent care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for an assigned patient group within the End Stage Kidney Disease team.

Collaboration with RNs, LVN/LPNs and PCTs is expected. The role supports decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient care and facility operations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current appropriate state licensure.
• Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.
• Must meet the practice requirements in the state in which he or she is employed.

Responsibilities

• Performs essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.
• Performs ongoing collection and analysis of patient data during hemodialysis and documents in the medical record; adjust care plan as indicated and notify supervisor or physician as needed.
• Educates patients and families about learning needs and initial ongoing education.
• Directs and provides safe delivery of hemodialysis therapy to assigned patients in collaboration with the health care team.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Acts as a resource for the health care team and participates in staff training and orientation.
• Ensures proper laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures; reschedules missed collections.
• Documents nursing assessments and care plans through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Ensures patient awareness related to transplant and treatment modality options.
