Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking an entry-level Registered Nurse for the Outpatient CAP 1 program. You will coordinate and provide clinically competent care for an assigned patient group, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in a dialysis setting.

As part of the End Stage Kidney Disease health care team, you will participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities, while coordinating with RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current state licensure.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Minimum 9 months RN experience; 3 months in chronic/acute hemodialysis.
• Entry level RN with less than 2 years nephrology nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform essential nursing duties under supervision with guidance from Supervisor, Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or other RNs.
• Collect and analyze patient data around hemodialysis and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Educate patients and families on learning needs and plan of care.
• Direct and provide, with the care team, safe delivery of hemodialysis therapy.
• Administer medications as prescribed or per approved algorithms.
• Initiate or assist with emergency response measures.
• Serve as a resource and participate in staff training and orientation.
• Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing and shipping procedures.
• Update nursing assessment and care plans with Interdisciplinary Team.
• Discuss transplant and modality options with patients.
• Complete CAP requirements to advance.
