Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, seeks a Sonographer to independently perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging for outpatient and inpatient settings, including abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN, and small parts exams. You will assist in complex procedures, communicate preliminary diagnoses to physicians, and participate in ongoing education and research.

Required ARDMS certification or registry eligibility with BLS within 90 days; one year of sonography experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Sonography Program and/or ARDMS registered or registry eligible.
• One year of experience as a Sonographer preferred.
• Associate degree or above preferred.
• ARDMS registered or registry eligible in the areas of abdomen, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN) and vascular technology (RVT).
• ARDMS registered in Abdomen, Obgyn, and RVT within 18 months of Mayo employment.
• Each certification should be achieved every 6 months.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Autonomously performs high quality, advanced diagnostic ultrasound imaging for outpatient and inpatient settings, including abdominal, vascular, abdominal vasculature, small parts, and OB/GYN exams.
• Assists in complex invasive procedures and intraoperative cases with a team approach.
• Obtain images and measurements with independent judgment and communicate a preliminary clinical diagnosis to the physician.
• Identify imaging orders for accuracy and tailor exams using patient history and symptoms.
• Maintain sterile technique, procedural setup, specimen handling, patient monitoring and documentation.
• Participate in research and incorporate new technology and techniques when acquiring images.
• Responsible for workflow efficiency, equipment maintenance, QA, and department accreditation maintenance.
• Foster teamwork, professionalism, and mutual respect.
• Mentor and teach students and staff; serve as a resource for residents and physicians.
• Participate in teams, projects, and process improvements; staff various locations and shifts.

Education

Graduate of Accredited Sonography Program

ARDMS registered or registry eligible (abdomen, OB/GYN, RVT)
