Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a Cytotechnologist to perform diagnostic cytologic evaluations and manage cytopreparatory functions in a high-accuracy laboratory setting in Baltimore. The role requires formal cytotechnology training and an active ASCP certification.

You will evaluate slides, maintain workflow efficiency, and participate in intra-operative consultations, quality control, and ongoing education within GBMC policies and standards.

Qualifications

• 60 semester hours with 14 in biological sciences and 12 months of cytotechnology training.
• Alternative path prior to 1977 with 60 semester hours and 12 months of cytotechnology training.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates microscopic slides from different anatomic sites and provides diagnostic cytologic interpretation per criteria.
• Performs cytopreparatory functions to meet turnaround time and maintain high quality.
• Assists in intra-operative consultations and coordinates multiple tasks for efficiency.
• Conducts quality control, follow-up studies and preventive maintenance as required.
• Evaluates instrumentation, procedures and supplies.
• Ensures adherence to policies and accrediting standards for quality and quantity.
• Participates in continuing education and shares knowledge through presentations.
