Job summary

Leidos in Reston, Virginia seeks a Software Engineer II to support DOJ/OJP/OCIO in building secure, reliable digital products. You will contribute to software improvement, testing, and DevSecOps capabilities across APIs, integrations, and automation.

Under guidance of senior engineers, you will implement enhancements, reduce technical debt, and participate in CI/CD, code reviews, and documentation. Experience with REST, JSON, Git workflows, and cloud/containers is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum two years of progressively responsible software engineering or application development experience.
• Experience with enterprise or web-based applications across multiple layers.
• Experience with Git-based workflows, code reviews, and automated testing.
• Experience in Agile development, iterative planning, backlog refinement, and sprints.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, authentication/authorization concepts, and integration patterns.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, test, debug, and maintain software components supporting DOJ digital products.
• Provide improvements by implementing enhancements, fixing defects, and reducing technical debt.
• Translate user stories and requirements into working software using Agile practices.
• Create and maintain automated tests to improve release quality.
• Participate in Git-based workflows, code reviews, and CI/CD processes.
• Support API integrations and data services using REST, JSON, SOAP as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and government stakeholders to deliver secure capabilities.
