Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to own the automation architecture for Windows infrastructure. You will design reusable Ansible roles, build CI/CD pipelines with AWS CDK, and instrument services with CloudWatch across isolated environments.

You will participate in an on-call rotation, resolve incidents, and drive scalable automation while maturing infrastructure-as-code patterns and runbooks. Security clearance sponsorship is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 1+ years designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby.
• Cloud+ or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner), or Associate's degree or above.
• 5+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, ops automation, and configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
• Working familiarity with Windows Server infrastructure: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy

Responsibilities

• Own automation architecture: Design and implement the Ansible automation framework that manages Core Services infrastructure at scale.
• Build delivery pipelines: Develop and maintain AWS CI/CD pipelines (CDK, CodePipeline, CodeBuild).
• Instrument and monitor: Build CloudWatch-based observability — dashboards, alarms, and metrics.
• Operate and support: Maintain production Windows infrastructure services; participate in on‑call rotation and provide escalation support.
• Eliminate manual operations: Migrate runbooks to code-defined automation.
• Establish engineering standards: Define patterns for infrastructure-as-code, testing, code review, and deployment.
• Mentor and lead technically: Guide junior engineers on automation practices and design reviews.
• Maintain documentation: Create and maintain architecture docs and runbooks.
