Job summary

Dallas ISD is seeking a Support Technician, Device Repair to diagnose and fix district laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, and other devices. You will perform repairs, assess viability, salvage parts, and ensure devices are ready for redeployment.

You will track repairs, maintain inventory, and ensure devices meet security standards. A high school diploma and at least one year of technical support experience are required; heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is also expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of direct technical support experience.
• Experience with hardware and software troubleshooting.
• Strong documentation and inventory tracking skills.
• Ability to work in a high-volume repair environment.
• Knowledge of laptop and Chromebook hardware components.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose hardware failures on laptops, Chromebooks, tablets and other district devices.
• Evaluate damaged devices to determine repair viability.
• Perform repairs including screen and keyboard replacements, motherboard swaps, charging port repairs, battery replacements and casing repairs.
• Salvage usable parts from non-repairable devices to support repair operations and reduce costs.
• Install and test newly purchased replacement parts as needed.
• Track repair metrics, cost savings and inventory recovery efforts.
• Ensure repaired devices meet operational and quality standards before redeployment.
• Test devices after repair to confirm full functionality.
• Ensure devices are updated with required district applications and security settings.
• Maintain an organized repair workspace and proper handling of electronic components.
• Support inventory preservation initiatives through repair and refurbishment efforts.
