Job summary

Monarch Healthcare in North Carolina seeks compassionate direct care workers to support individuals with mental health diagnoses, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders in residential settings. Sleepovers are required, and the role involves 40 scheduled hours per week with a starting pay of $17 per hour.

You will assess needs, help build community connections, promote rights and advocacy, and document progress with training and safeguards in place.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (Required).
• Valid Driver's License (USA).
• Experience with individuals who have mental health diagnoses, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders; not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess each person for hopes, dreams, and desires and provide supports that facilitate achievement.
• Help individuals develop relationships in their community and with natural supports.
• Assist participation in community activities aligned with the person’s interests.
• Protect and promote the rights of each person and support advocacy efforts and personal advocates.
• Provide emotional, physical, and medical support as needed.
• Foster person-centered, positive relationships to promote self-determination.
• Contribute to assessment and planning processes and document progress in the individual’s plan.
• Complete daily progress notes and communication logs to ensure goals and interests are met.
• Attend meetings and required trainings; maintain certifications.
• Follow agency policies and state/federal regulations relevant to program areas.
• Assist with day-to-day home operations, housekeeping, meals, laundry, and related tasks.
• Assist during late night hours on occasion.
• Drive and travel as required; arrange transportation as needed.
• Support emergency procedures and personal safety; participate in drills and safety practices.
• Assist new staff with orientation and training.
• Follow service definition guidelines and perform other duties as assigned.
