Job summary

The U.S. Coast Guard Kodiak Child Development Center in Kodiak, AK, seeks a Developmental Child Care Assistant (INT 6844) to support early childhood programs and supervise children in a safe, engaging environment.

You will work with the director and teachers to implement activities, promote positive child-youth interactions, and assist in maintaining daily program operations in a developmentally appropriate setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must read, write and speak in English.
• Ability to promote and foster effective working relationships with children, youth, and coworkers.
• Physical ability to lift up to 45 pounds and perform related daily activities.
• Ability to complete Tier 1 background investigation and periodic renewal.
• Ability to pass Civilian Medical Clearance examinations as required.

Responsibilities

• Plans and executes early childhood education experiences with varied materials.
• Develops and implements age-appropriate curriculum with staff.
• Maintains a safe program environment and positive interactions among participants.
• Performs routine care giving tasks and general supervision duties.
• Registers participation data and completes required daily reports.
