Job summary

The USCG Community Services Command invites applications for a Child Care Assistant (Dev) in Kodiak, AK. This full-time developmental position supports the Coast Guard's Child Development Center, delivering age-appropriate activities and ensuring a safe, engaging environment.

You will collaborate with the center director and staff to implement curriculum, supervise children, help with meals, and complete daily reports, health checks, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 18+ years old.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and perform related physical tasks.
• Able to pass Tier 1 background investigation and Civilian Medical Clearance every two years.
• Experience with childcare is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and executes early childhood education experiences with materials to promote development.
• Works with the director and teachers to develop age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
• Maintains a safe environment and positive interactions among children, youth, and adults.
• Assists in leading planned activities and monitoring participants.
• Interacts with children using approved guidance techniques and completes daily reports.
• Maintains indoor/outdoor activity areas and supervises during all daily periods.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
