Job summary

Violence Intervention Program (VIP) in New York City is seeking a Development Assistant to join the Development team. You will work closely with the Associate Director of Individual Giving and Operations, gaining hands-on experience in donor stewardship, fundraising administration, database management, and special events.

We value organized, detail-oriented candidates who can collaborate across VIP and interact with donors, partners, and Board members. Hybrid Upper Manhattan location.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of nonprofit fundraising or related work experience or a relevant degree/certification.
• Exceptional verbal and written communications skills with ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or collaboratively.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Familiarity with CRM/donor databases; Bloomerang experience is a plus.
• Fluency in English; Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support individual and corporate fundraising efforts, including donor research.
• Prepare gift acknowledgments, thank-you letters, and other donor correspondence.
• Maintain accurate donor records, gifts, and notes in VIP's donor database.
• Generate donor reports, mailing lists, and other fundraising data.
• Keep development files, documents, and procedures organized and up to date.
• Support fundraising events, including VIP's annual benefit, with logistics and donor lists.
• Provide administrative support to the Associate Director, including calendar management and meeting notes.
